Bennett Radio Group has received FCC approval to purchase stations from Mountain Valley Broadcasting
Bennett Radio Group announced it has received FCC approval to purchase WOXO-FM 92.7 Norway, WRMO-FM 100.7 Mexico, WEZR 1240 AM Lewiston/Auburn, WPNO-1450 AM South Paris and WTME-980 AM Rumford from Mountain Valley Broadcasting. The purchase also includes translator stations 105.5 FM Lewiston Auburn, 95.3 FM South Paris Norway, 96.9 FM South Paris and 98.3 FM Rumford.
Stan Bennett, President of Bennett Radio Group, commented, “I have great respect for the late Dick Gleason who owned and operated Mountain Valley Broadcasting for over 4 decades. This purchase will allow these stations to return to operation while remaining locally owned and operated serving the Lewiston/Auburn, Oxford Hills, The Lakes Region and River Valley areas of Central and Western Maine by a lifelong “Mainer.”
Stan Bennett has been in Maine radio since 1987 beginning at WIGY-FM/WJTO-AM in Bath, Me. He attended the New England School of Broadcasting in Bangor and over the last 26 years has been the Director of Programming for radio stations 107.5 Frank FM and 99.9 The Wolf among a few other stations. Stan also served as morning co-host on Frank FM for the last 12 years. “I am very grateful to Binnie Media for providing me the opportunity to do what I love every day. When this opportunity came up to fulfil a lifelong dream of radio ownership and keeping the radio stations under local control, I could not pass it up. Locally owned and operated stations are very important to our communities”.
Stan currently serves on the board of directors for the Maine Association of Broadcasters, has been inducted into the Maine association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame and awarded the Broadcast Achievement award in 2018. “I’ve been incredibly lucky to work alongside very talented people over the years who love local radio as much as I do”.
The stations will return to operation as soon as the purchase has been finalized in the next few weeks. To reach Stan for comment firstname.lastname@example.org or 207-344-8007.
This is wonderful news for our communities and Stan has indicated that he wants to work very closely with the Chamber of Commerce, focusing on local events and activities while doing all he can to support our businesses. He is the real deal and will most definitely move the greater Oxford Hills forward.
