Name: Stone Wall Walk at Shepard's Farm Preserve
Date: July 23, 2017
Time: 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM EDT
Event Description:
On July 23rd, Maine Master naturalist, Cheryl Laz will join the Western Foothills Land Trust to talk about the community ecology of stone walls. Cheryl applied her Master naturalist training to the natural history of stone walls. Cheryl will lead us at Shepard's Farm pointing out clues that hint at the role the stone walls played in this historical farm.  Was the wall crafted deliberately to mark a boundary or was it simply a pile of leftover rocks tossed aside following a field clearing?   She also will explore the plants, animals, and lichen that use old stone walls as a shelter from the storm or a substrate for growth. Cheryl will lead us along the Shepard Farm stone walls on Sunday, July 23 from 9 to 11

Cheryl Laz's Stone Wall will be held on Sunday, July 23rd from 9 AM to 11 AM.  Please meet in the parking lot for Shepard’s Farm Preserve at 121 Crockett Ridge Rd, Norway. The walk will be free for Western Foothills Land Trust members, a $5 donation is requested from non-members. Contact program coordinator Kelly Hodgkins at or 207-739-2124 for any questions and to pre-register for this event.
