Name: Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival
Date: July 18, 2017
Time: 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM EDT
Event Description:
The Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival continues its 45th anniversary season celebration on Tuesday, July 18th, at 7:30 P.M. at the Deertrees Theatre in Harrison. The Festival has been lauded by the Portland Press Herald: “Backstage at the Deertrees Theatre in Harrison opens onto the Maine woods, the theater itself has some of the most remarkable acoustics in New England, and the chamber music one would expect to hear at Lincoln Center.” Come and join the celebration with the Festival’s extraordinary musicians!

Influential Friendships offers masterworks by three eminent composers of the Romantic period, whose works and lives were deeply connected and influenced one another. Schumann encouraged and supported Brahms as Brahms mentored and championed Dvorak. Among them, they produced some of the best-loved music of their age. This extraordinary program opens with an unusual combination of string trio by Dvorak, followed by Brahms’ magnificent Clarinet Trio, and ends with the brilliant Schumann Piano Quintet. What better way to celebrate the anniversary season than to highlight the Festival musicians making exceptional music by composers who were close friends!

Program II:                Influential Friendships
DVORAK: Terzetto for 2 Violins and Viola, Op. 74
BRAHMS: Clarinet Trio in A Minor, Op. 114
SCHUMANN: Piano Quintet in E-flat Major, Op. 44
