Name: Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival
Date: July 11, 2017
Time: 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM EDT
Event Description:
The Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival is excited to open its 45th anniversary season on Tuesday, July 11th, at 7:30 P.M. at the Deertrees Theatre in Harrison. Designed by the Music Director and renowned pianist, Mihae Lee, for its quality and variety, the Festival’s concerts have garnered a reputation for presenting extraordinary concerts performed by internationally acclaimed artists, in a beautiful woodland setting with superb acoustics. The Festival has been lauded by the Portland Press Herald: “Backstage at the Deertrees Theatre in Harrison opens onto the Maine woods, the theater itself has some of the most remarkable acoustics in New England, and the chamber music one would expect to hear at Lincoln Center.”

The opening concert’s program, Inspiring Mozart, offers works that are delightful, lively, and triumphant. Bookending the first half of the program are two charming and beloved pieces Mozart wrote for clarinet and horn. Mozart-Adagio for Piano Trio by the renowned Estonian composer Arvo Pärt is an effective transcription of the Adagio from Mozart’s early piano sonata in F Major, as well as a wonderful study of Mozart’s influence reached far into the future. The Fauré Piano Quartet, a blockbuster masterwork, will conclude the concert pulling out all the stops. Come and join the celebration!
