NORWAY – The friends and members of the Second Congregational Church, U.C.C., Main St., Norway are busy in the barn sorting, cleaning and pricing items for their 18th annual Tent-N-Treasures Yard Sale, which will be held, Saturday, August 26, 2017. If you have items to contribute, they are delighted to receive them through the back door of the barn. Books, toys, tools, furniture, dishes, linens, boats, bikes, skiis, tractors, Christmas decorations, et.al. may be dropped off at any time.
The church's minister, Rev. Cordelia Strandskov remarked, “Our members are thrilled and grateful for the Oxford Hills’ generous support of our community church! We look forward to this yard sale every year as a way to connect with our neighbors and continue to help make a difference in this community."
The monies generated from the sale support many local missions. The funds not only allow the Norway church to open its doors to groups like AA, Alanon and Girl Scouts, but also provide for: monthly free suppers, free children’s theater productions, free Christmastide productions, college scholarships, camperships andSunday school. The church as well makes monthly donations to the food pantry and monetary donations to Safe Voices, the rape crisis hotline (SAPAR), the Community Lunch Program and many other local missions.
“We look forward to a very large crowd on August 26th. If you haven’t been before, don’t miss it. We will have something for everyone; from books to toys, sewing machines to rocking chairs, linens to baskets, jewelry to junk, and tools to trinkets. All items will be reasonably priced, clean and in working order.”
